Well, Thanksgiving is over and now it is time to get ready for Christmas! The shopping, the baking, the decorating, the cleaning, we’ll need the energy of the Energizer Bunny just to make it through. It seems as if we spend all our lives looking into the future, getting ready for the next big thing. In all the flurry of the moment, all the anticipation of the big event, it is important to take a moment and just be still.
Do you ever take time to stop, rest and be still before God? Yes our lives are busy. Yes we need to think about the future and plan ahead. Still, there is great value in stopping and finding God in stillness. Consciously and deliberately pausing, putting aside our routines and making time to be with the Lord. Although we confess God as the ruler of all, the creator and giver of all good things, He waits. He waits for us to choose Him, to find Him in prayer. He waits for us to go to Him with our thanks, our needs, our concerns, in short with our prayer.
As we approach the season of Advent, when we prepare our hearts and our homes for the coming of the Christ child, we need to take the time to stop and be in the moment. Be present with God, be still and be open to the voice that speaks to us there. God loves us now! Today! He loves us whether we are ready or not.
Yes, we have work to do, we have things to get ready, but take some time to be with your God today.
